Lavin It

Linda Lavin

Linda Lavin is speaking at Sacred Heart University’s Edgerton Center for the Performing Arts on April 13 at 3 p.m. Imagine what a wide-ranging talk that could be.

Lavin was in the original Broadway production of It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s Superman, directed by Harold Prince. Her hit sitcom Alice was inspired by the Martin Scorsese movie Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore. She was a member of Robert Brustein’s American Repertory Theatre company (where I once saw her appear in Six Characters in Search of an Author, where she underplayed wonderfully). She was in an important New York revival of New Haven-based playwright Donald Margulies’ Collected Stories, and also appeared in the televised version of the play in 2011. In recent years Lavin has appeared in a couple of Nicky Silver premieres.

Edgerton Center is on the Sacred Heart campus, 5151 Park Ave., Fairfield.

Tickets are $25, $15 for seniors and SHU staff, $10 for students. (203) 371-7908, http://www.edgertoncenter.org/.
