Theater Jerk Comics Collection

More theater-related comics. (I consider Tom Waits a man of the theater, for his collaborations with Robert Wilson and for the elaborate stage sets which graced his tours back in the ’70s).

Doug Savage’s Savage Chickens; a rerun from Maintaining by Nate Creekmore; Steve McGarry’s Biographic, noting that Ariana Grande was on Broadway before she was a TV and pop star; Deering & Newcombe’s Zack Hill; Jason Poland’s Rob & Robbie (with the aforementioned Tom Waits reference); an Shakespeare-tinged episode of one of the greatest comic strips ever produced, Percy Crosby’s Skippy; and another glimpse of the wonderful sequence in which Dick Tracy’s nemesis Gruesome performed in Arsenic and Old Lace, until the theater got blown up. (The action in that strip, written by Mike Curtis and drawn by Joe Staton, has since moved to a miniature golf course.)

I find these strips on the GoComics and Comics Kingdom sites, both of which I have loyally subscribed to for years.
