I’ve read this comic. The satires are ostensibly of movies, but of course any boxing drama cliches derive from Odets’ Golden Boy, and the legend of Caesar and Cleopatra were well covered by Shakespeare and Shaw before Joseph Mankiewicz and Elizabeth Taylor got to it. As for The Mighty Archie Art Players, this was a longstanding troupe of Riverdale thespians who indulged in loose adaptations of stage and screen classics throughout the 1980s and ’90s. Where are they now?
