…that award-winning alt-weekly arts journalist. Been writing like fury for decades now—several million words for the New Haven Advocate alone.
Writing honors I’m most proud of: a coveted Arts award from the Arts Council of Greater New Haven in 2001 and a 2011 fellowship at the NEA Institute in Theater and Musical Theater (a USC-sponsored program which begat the Engine28 website. I’ve also won a bunch of awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and a couple each from the New England Newspaper & Press Association and the national Association of Alternative Newsweeklies.
I’ve wanted to have my own website-type thing ever since back when they were known as mimeographed newsletters.
The main scribblers.us site is for my random interests and some excursions into web fiction. Another area, scribblers.us/nhtj/ (New Haven Theater Jerk, aka New Haven Theater Journal) is reserved for my theater writings.
I can blog (and so forth) independently now thanks to my wife Kathleen Rooney, who persevered in setting up a WordPress account when I could not.
Thanks also to Hugh Mackay and Jack Nork for inspiration and support. And to Mabel & Sally for being darling daughters.
have appreciated your writing over the years, looking forward to the blog
