B.F. Rush doesn’t like to lose. You should see him play golf. I think he honestly believed that he could have rebuilt the American government in whatever way he liked if he hadn’t been handicapped. He wasn’t a natural-born citizen, or at any rate was an orphan without a birth certificate. He’d been convicted of a felony. Some of the people he’d built up his businesses with, some of his old romances and even some of his family, were bringing up uncomfortable stories from his past.

He couldn’t rebuild. But could he build something fresh?
